WELCOME

First things first ... what the hell is this blog and what's going on with that title?

Answers:

The blog -- FOOTBALL.  POLITICS.  BOOKS.  MOVIES.  GENERAL MAYHEM.  And probably some more FOOTBALL.

You're going to hear specifically about the DENVER BRONCOS, the NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS, the CHICAGO BEARS, the USC TROJANS, the IOWA HAWKEYES, and the IOWA STATE CYCLONES.  Yeah, I know.  It sounds like we got hammered one night and drew the teams out of a hat.  That's not how it happened.  Yes, we were hammered (obviously, it's football season) but no, we didn't draw the teams out of hat.  These are the teams favored by our initial group of "correspondents" (I'm sure you'll find more colorful labels for these folks as the season goes along, but for now, we'll start here).  Like the NFL and the FBS, expansion is always on the horizon.  (Seriously, UT San Antonio has a Division I football team now?  Are you kidding me?)

The title -- the blog will be a group effort.  We're building a full website that will eventually house all this madness, but until then, this blog will be the temporary home of the thoughts, opinions, rants and arguments of a group of people on the topics listed above.  And, it's hard as hell to find a title that's not a bunch of gibberish and hasn't already been taken.  Deal with it.

Sooo, I'm gonna get this thing started with a healthy dose of football in honor of the new season and the others will jump in when they get off their lazy asses ...
